Sensory Dissection

Flavor

Longjing

FreshNuttySweetRoastedSmooth

Longjing is China's best-known green tea, prized for a fresh, nutty character with a gentle sweetness and a clean finish. The leaves are pan-fired in woks, which sets a toasted chestnut aroma that higher grades show alongside a soft, savory depth. The cup is smooth and rounded with almost no bitterness when brewed with cooler water.

Zhuyeqing

FreshSweetFloralSmoothVegetal

Zhuyeqing, 'bamboo leaf green,' is a modern famous tea from Mount Emei in Sichuan, named for its slender flat leaves. The cup is fresh and gently sweet with a soft floral lift, a silky vegetal body, and a clean finish. It is pan-fired and lightly pressed, giving an elegant aroma. It is usually brewed in glass so the upright leaves can be watched as they steep.
